Computer Technology Class
Welcome Letter

Dear Student and Family,

Welcome to the Frost 7th Grade Computer Technology class.  This class is a required class for all students in Livonia Public Schools.  I look forward to a successful ten week session.

A wide range of skills and topics will be covered in the ten weeks to advance students to a level of technical literacy.  Students need to be competitive in this ever changing technological world in which we live.  These skills include, but are not limited to:

  • Keyboarding
  • Computer Literacy
  • Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Databases
  • The Internet
  • Internet Safety
  • Web Tools
  • Digital Citizenship
  • Google Apps
  • Online Learning and Assessments

The class curriculum and assignments can be viewed at any time via my website.

Each student will be assigned a computer and a number. He/She is responsible for that equipment during his/her class time. If anything is wrong with the machine, the student should inform the teacher immediately.

The student will be on the Internet. All permission slips to use the Internet should have been signed when the students registered. The Internet is a wonderful educational resource when used properly. “Digital Citizenship” will be explained and emphasized.

Students should arrive to class each day and log on to the computer and begin their learning, unless otherwise instructed.  Only a few items are required for students to bring to class.  They include, but are not limited to:

                        - Assignment Notebook                          - Pen/Pencil

The following two items are optional but strongly recommended:

                        -Head Phones                                          -Flash Drive

There will be very little homework in this class because you must use a computer for a majority of the work. Arrangements can be made with the instructor for extra help/work time after school.

Computer Technology is a very relevant class today and an important one for a person’s future.  Technological skills are important in order to be competitive in an expanding, global society.

I welcome all suggestions and comments. If you have any questions regarding this class, please contact me or visit my website.

Thank you,
