Ms. Shanan Wheeler
Greetings Frost Middle School Community,
My name is Shanan Wheeler and I am so excited to welcome you to the Frost Family. It has been my pleasure to lead Frost Middle School for the past nine years, first as an assistant principal and now as principal. As I begin year ten, I look forward to working with our newest Falcons, and welcoming back our 8th grade leaders.
Frost Middle School is one of three middle schools that serves the Livonia Public Schools District. In addition to a robust general education program, Frost is home to several of the districts’ magnet programs, including the Middle School Alternative Classrooms for the Academically Talented (MACAT), center-based ASD and MoCI, and center-based cross-categorical special education. Frost also offers a variety of elective classes including: Project Lead The Way (PLTW) STEM courses; opportunities in band, orchestra, and guitar; visual and industrial arts; consumer sciences, and foreign language.
At Frost, we have a well established PBIS program that provides behavioral support to our students. Our system allows all students the opportunity to learn and grow in a safe, structured, positive environment that enables them to become life-long learners. Our PBIS team is always looking for ways to highlight and reward student achievement and works in collaboration with parents and students to stay informed and relevant to all of our stakeholder groups.
Due to the diverse educational programming at Frost, we employ a full-time social worker, school psychologist, and Student Assistance Provider (SAP) in addition to two full-time counselors, and a team leader for all special education programming. These professionals work collaboratively to support the social and emotional well-being of all Frost students, and work in cooperation with teaching staff to employ best practices for learning in a supportive environment. We are also a Unified Champion School, offering all students equal opportunity to participate in sports and activities throughout the year.
Overall, Frost Middle School provides a unique learning environment for students to find their voice and have full access to a fair and equitable education. We are so excited you are here.
Kind regards,
Shanan Wheeler, Ed.S.
